Form Setter

The Form Setter plays a key role in preparing job sites and building concrete forms for a variety of ICI construction projects. From reading construction drawings to assembling and dismantling forms, this position requires precision, physical strength, and a strong understanding of carpentry and construction techniques. Form Setters work closely with site crews to ensure accurate and timely formwork, while following all required safety procedures and site protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications and shop drawings.
  • Measure, cut, and assemble materials such as wood and metal using hand and power tools.
  • Build, install, brace, and align concrete forms according to project requirements.
  • Assist with pouring and spreading concrete.
  • Dismantle forms after concrete has cured.
  • Prepare job sites by excavating, levelling ground, and installing rebar.
  • Maintain hand and power tools.
  • Schedule and coordinate work on-site.
  • Follow all health and safety standards at all times.

Experience / Requirements

  • Relevant experience, typically gained through an apprenticeship.
  • Valid driver’s licence.
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction.
  • Proficient in using power tools, manual equipment, and measurement tools.
  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks.
  • Ability to read and understand construction blueprints and specifications.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Works well independently and as part of a team.
  • Safety training: Provide all safety certificates; Abcott Construction will arrange for any mandatory training if required.
