Pat Hayes is celebrating his 30th Anniversary with Abcott Construction this April! Congratulations Pat on all of your hard work and your incredible career! Hear what Pat has to say about his 30 years with Abcott Construction!
My proudest moment at Abcott Construction would have to be when I was offered an ownership position, although a minority position at first. Knowing that all the hard work and extra hours had paid off made me feel very proud, and I have not looked back since.
The best thing about being in the construction industry (especially Design Build) is that there is always another new project, client and team which will inevitably offer new challenges that need to be met to get the project to completion. That is what has kept me passionate for 30 years.
Abcott Construction means very much to me. I have dedicated over half my life to its success, and it is the only company I have worked for since graduating college. It brought me to Brantford, which lead to my marriage to Kim & meeting my step daughter Loren. Brantford and all the people I work with are now part of who I am, and I cannot imagine it any other way.
My greatest accomplishment would have to be getting to where I am, which is being an owner in a successful business with a great business partner, Darryl. Being an owner has had its challenges but through mutual respect, an awesome support team and a common goal we have always accomplished what we set out to do and plan to do going forward.
The biggest challenge in the 30 years of working for Abcott Construction had to be during my time as a minority owner. During this time there were multiple partners who all had very different goals, which made it very challenging. Getting to where we are today as equal partners has allowed me to focus on the overall health & success of the business.
When I started at Abcott Construction I was hired in a drafting position. At that time, we were still doing all our drawings by hand and that was where it all began.
Outside of Abcott Construction I am a family man. My wife and daughter mean everything to me and are at the forefront of all I do. I also come from a large tight knit family and although my siblings are all in different locations, we remain close. I have been blessed with many great friends throughout my life and many great memories!
I am sure that I am perceived at work as a person who is generally all about work and probably to serious, but for those who know me outside of work, including my daughter, I would hope they would agree that I can be silly and truly enjoy having a good time with a lot of laughs.
